98.5ac Carlow farm sells for €6,000/ac

One of the larger farms to come for sale in Carlow was sold at auction last week for €590,000 or almost €6,000/ac. Located at Constable Hill, Hacketstown in Co Carlow the 98.5ac residential farm came to auction with a guide price of €5,500/ac.

The property is located approximately 3km from Hacketstown and includes an old world, limestone yard with a residence in need of modernisation.

The house and yard are approached via a concrete driveway and occupy an elevated setting overlooking the land.

The lands are laid out in a number of divisions that are all in grass and come with with frontage on to a local road. The ground is all good quality, elevated grazing ground climbing to 229m above sea level at its highest point. A portion of the land has been tilled in recent years and there is excellent shelter with most of the boundaries fenced for stock.

Paddy Jordan of Jordan Auctioneers got proceedings moving when he accepted a bid of €350,000. With two bidders in the chase the bidding continued in increments of €20,000, €10,000 and €5,000 until the property went on the market at €580,000. It sold to a local farmer for €590,000.

Further west Jordans are also handling the sale of zoned lands extending to 25.35ac at Cashel and Ardfinnan in Co Tipperary. The parcels are coming to auction with a guide of between €12,000 and €13,000/ac.

The lands are in two separate lots, with 20ac at Deerpark, Cashel and 5.35ac at Ardfinnan. Both are zoned for residential development.

Jordan Auctioneers are quoting €12,000 per acre for the 20 acres at Deerpark, Cashel and €13,000 per acre for the 5.35 acres at Ardfinnan.
