€1.2m bid for Offaly farm not enough

A 205ac Offaly farm at Rathdrum, Ballycommon, Tullamore, Co Offaly, was withdrawn from auction last week after being bid to €1.22million.
Situated 7km northeast of Tullamore, 8km south of Tyrrellspass and 10km southeast of Kilbeggan, the holding includes a derelict farmhouse residence, a modern farmyard and a central farm roadway.
According to Paul Murtagh of selling agents Murtagh Brothers, the lands are suitable for any farm enterprise- tillage, drystock or dairy.
It is laid out in one division, with well-fenced fields that are serviced by a central farm roadway.
At the moment 80ac are in tillage, with the rest in pasture.
The farmyard consists of a large modern five-bay double-sided slatted house with central feed passage capable of accommodating up to 200hd of cattle. There are also two large concrete silage slabs, along with a three-bay haybarn with lean-to and cattle crush.
The derelict two-storey farmhouse at the centre of the farm is in need of complete refurbishment and is approached by a new tarmacdam, tree-lined avenue, fenced by timber post and rail fencing.
