Local farmers made up the bulk of the attendance at the auction of the lands which took place at the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, recently.

Located 0.5 miles from Ballindangan Village and six miles from Enniscorthy, the property, described as topquality tillage ground, is in one field with no buildings of significance and road frontage suitable only for access.

Auctioneer Michael Keogh, of Wexford Farmers Co-op, opened the bidding at €100,000. Three bidders, all local farmers, were involved at the early stages of bidding.

The auction proceeded with initial bids of €5,000 until giving way to bids of €1,000. With two bidders remaining, the property went on the market at €117,000 and bidding continued until it sold for €121,000.

Mr Keogh described the outcome as satisfactory, saying that €10,500/ac was a reasonable price given current market conditions.
