€10,900/ac is paid for 13ac near Crookedwood

Mullingar auctioneer Jimmy Murtagh recently sold a 13ac residential farm located at Parsonstown, Crookedwood, Co Westmeath for €201,000, surpassing its guide by €1,000.

Located four miles from Mullingar on the Castlepollard road, the property includes a three-bedroom bungalow in need of complete refurbishment.

The accommodation comprises a sitting room, dining room/kitchen, bathroom and toilet. The land is described by Mr Murtagh as all arable ground without an inch of waste and populated by mature beech trees.

Bidding on the property opened at €120,000 and with two bidders interested offers soon reached €195,000 at which point it was put on the market.

After a short while, it sold under the hammer for €201,000 to a professional man from Mullingar.

Jimmy Murtagh was happy with the sale.

"If you put €80,000 on the house on an acre, the remaining 12ac made €121,000 or 10,900/ac," he said.
