Consumer spending rose by 5.4pc in September compared with the same month in 2014, a new study has found.
According to Visa Europe's latest Irish Consumer Spending Index this represents the thirteenth month of unbroken growth since the series began in September 2014.
The best performing category was clothing and footwear, which grew 13.9pc during the month on a year-on-year basis. Visa Europe's country manager for Ireland Conor Langford (pictured) said the increase is a positive sign ahead of the upcoming budget.
