Houses and Balbriggan site are put up for auction
A 2.3 acre site and two houses in Balbriggan has been put on the market with a guide price of some €500,000.
The site, zoned “Town Centre”, together with 2 semi-detached houses all overlooking Balbriggan Harbour is to be offered for sale by public auction through Savills and O’Connor Property Consultants.
The site has seen numerous uses over the years.
A textile factory operated by the Balbriggan Sea Banks Hosiery Company traded on the site from 1884 until its destruction in 1920 by the Black and Tans. It was subsequently restored by the clothing firm Stephenson, which manufactured hosiery and underwear from 1932 until its closure in the 1980’s.
The factory buildings were demolished early in the last decade with the landmark smokestack style chimney being the only remaining element still standing. According to Savills, this listed structure could be the focal point of any new development on the site.
Unless previously sold, the auction will take place at 3pm on Wednesday 23rd July in Buswells Hotel, 27 Molesworth St. Dublin 2.
The land is available in one or more lots. Lot 1 is number 1 Seabanks – a semi-detached house requiring refurbishment (€70,000 guide). Lot 2 is number 4 Seabanks – a semi-detached house requiring refurbishment guiding €80,000. Lot 3 is the site, which has a guide of €350,000. Lot 4 is the entire property.
Savills Loman Dempsey commented: “The town centre zoning of this site affords a developer the opportunity to provide much needed retail and leisure opportunities.
There is an opportunity to develop a small residential scheme of apartments or townhouses in this scenic harbour location.”
