The Central Bank building on Dame Street in Dublin will go up for sale next month with a price tag of around €65m.
The premises, which was completed in 1978, is being sold by selling agent James Nugent of Lisney.
The building was designed by Sam Stephenson and has split opinion since its inception.
With the looming pedestrianisation of the College Green area some businesses may be attracted to the property's retail opportunitiy.
A full renovation could occur that would see it transform itself into a hotel in the heart of Dublin's city centre.
The sale comes ahead of the Central Bank's move to its new headquarters at North Wall Quay in Dublin's docklands.
