CBRE are Europe's shopping mall kings
THE Property and Asset Management (PAM) division of property consultants CBRE has been appointed to manage the Sun Plaza Shopping Centre in Bucharest in Romania.
The instruction means that CBRE are now the largest manager of shopping centres in Europe with some 200 schemes under management.
Commenting on the achievement, CBRE Ireland's head of property management Aidan Grimes, who also sits on CBRE's European Shopping Centre Board said: "CBRE now has a dominant position in the European shopping centre marketplace.
"The company has a vast knowledge base and expertise which it can tap into; furthermore it is now leading the field in the context of specialty leasing for commercialisation and sustainability," he added.
CBRE manages 12 shopping centres totalling 3.5 million square feet in Ireland, including the likes of the Castlecourt Shopping Centre in Belfast.
Mr Grimes envisages significant growth potential in Ireland as the company is now the lead shopping centre manager in Europe and in particular in the UK, Italy, Scandinavia and Spain.
