Arbitration honour for an Irishman
A top world position in alternative dispute resolution has gone to Irishman Joe Behan, who has been elected world president of the 12,000-strong Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) for 2010.
An engineer by training, Mr Behan heads up the Dublin-based ADR practice of Behan Dispute Resolution. He is a council member of the Irish Commercial Mediation Association, certified mediator with the International Mediators Institute and a practitioner member of Mediators Institute Ireland and works with mediator panels for Engineers Ireland, The Law Society, the Construction Industry Federation and the CIArb.
Meanwhile, Ciaran Fahy has been elected chairman of the Dispute Resolution Board at the Institution of Engineers of Ireland for three years.
