Dublin's Digital Hub should get a boost from the construction of new office space and student accommodation.
The Digital Hub Development Agency said that a €40m development project will create 300 construction jobs in building accommodation for 500 students and over 10,000 square feet of office space. The project is also slated to include the renovation of an 19th Century grainstore building.
The planned investment by London-based Knightsbridge Student Housing would be a boost to the area, which is close to the National College of Art and Design.
The Digital Hub was created with great fanfare in 2003 by former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's government to encourage the creation of digital-focused enterprises and currently houses around 70 companies. It is a state agency governed by the Digital Hub Development Act.
Work on the new development is due to begin in August.
