Hot potato

Business planning has always been a bit of a hot potato on Smallbusinesscan. One of the founders  is a best selling author on the subject and he has lost faith. He wrote about it.

Movement supersedes planning

His argument that in a world where an app can become mainstream in a month, there is no point in having two year planning cycles. 42% of the most successful entrepreneurial businesses in the USA have no plan at all. Is longer about long term planning but about short-term movement and speed of execution. Procrastination kills companies.

What do the experts say

It got some interesting responses from some prominent experts such as Brian O’Kane (Oak Tree Press) and Alan Gleeson (bplans.com)

Mastery and preparation

As always the truth lies in the middle. Preparation and mastery are the keys to success and the business plan gives you the framework to think from. It is not about the plan, it is about the planning process.

The tool

Which is why Smallbusinesscan created a tool that will give you the best of both worlds. It is a toolset that asks you the minimum of key questions that will help you prepare and will give you the basis for pitch, your business planning document and your application for the the Business Achievers awards.

The support
