The financial services sector is rooted in traditional face to face transactions, but the future of banking continues to move towards a digital realm.

As Chief Information Officer at Ulster Bank, Robin knows that simply moving familiar banking transactions online is not enough. His definition of innovation in a digital context is dynamic, starting from the outside in to encompass the entire user experience.

He comments that “within banking, we’re several years behind what a digital experience actually is”, and he sees this as an opportunity for Ulster Bank to be a leader in their approach to digital innovation.  They look to re-engineer familiar practices such as opening an account or making a loan application to become seamless online experiences that are accessed from any device, at any time.  Whilst they are still developing their own identity of digital innovation, Ulster Bank has immersed itself in this cultural shift. Their commitment to achieving digital innovation is evidenced by their ongoing support and collaboration with young start-ups, and by embracing the endless possibilities the tech industry can offer banking.
