Finance Minister Michael Noonan is expected to announce a €5 increase in the dole as part of Budget 2017.
The Jobseeker's Allowance for people over 26 is currently €188. This is expected to rise to €193.
People aged 25 currently get an allowance of €144 while those between 18 and 24 qualify for €100.
Other measures likely to affect young people include a help-to-buy scheme for first-time buyers in the form of a 5pc grant on new-build homes. The grant will be capped at €20,000.
There will be 1,400 new teachers, including resource teachers and special needs assistants. This will not reduce the pupil-teacher ratio but will keep pace with demographic demands.
Increased funding for third level institutions is likely to feature as it is a Fianna Fáil priority.
