Budget fatigue has hit Leinster House particularly quickly this year as Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald found herself addressing just one Opposition TD this evening.

The Justice Minister arrived in the Dáil chamber to formally give her take on Budget 2017 but her audience lacked anyone from Sinn Féin, the Labour Party, AAA-PBP or the Independent grouping.

Ms Fitzgerald was flanked on the Government benches by Cabinet colleague Shane Ross and junior minister Marcella Corcoran Kennedy.

Fianna Fáil’s justice spokesperson Jim O’Callaghan was the sole TD on the other side of the chamber.

Ms Fitzgerald shared her speaking time with Mr Ross, with four other Fianna Fáil TDs arriving by the time he took to his feet.

However, the Tánaiste promptly left after her contribution without waiting to hear from the Transport Minister as she was due to speak on justice issues in the Seanad.
