MICHAEL Noonan slapped €1 on the price of a bottle of wine today, while increasing the cost of a pint and a packet of cigarettes by only 10c each.
A packet of cigarettes will cost €9.40 after the new hike.
The increases come as the Government aims to take €3.5bn out of the economy in the country’s fifth austerity budget.
Other changes have already been well flagged including details of the property tax, hikes in motor tax and a €5 per week drop in the PRSI tax-free allowance.
The new property tax rates announced include a base rate increase of 0.18pc and a new higher rate of 0.25pc on houses valued at more than €1m.
This will mean an average annual property tax bill of €270 per house.
