The opportunity for further expansion at Ardmore Studios has been flagged to investors in the Co Wicklow film complex.

The company, whose main shareholders are ex-U2 manager Paul McGuinness and accountant Ossie Kilkenny, has told prospective buyers that there are opportunities to expand stage capacity in order to draw in bigger productions, the Sunday Independent has learned.

Ireland's generous tax incentive scheme is being promoted in the sale process, as is the country's track record for co-productions. The availability of experienced film crews, as well an international success with films such as Brooklyn has also been highlighted.

Ardmore has housed productions including Penny Dreadful and Braveheart.

The studio is expected to attract international interest with Pinewood tipped as a potential buyer. The Wicklow complex could fetch €15m.
