Aer Lingus passenger numbers rise to 1.06m in May

Aer Lingus has reported a 1.5pc rise in passenger numbers to to 1.06m for the month of May.
This compared to 1.04m customers carried by the airline in the same period last year.
The load factor - or how many seats it fills on each flight - also increased by 1.7pc to 80.4pc. The short load factor increased by 2.6pc to 77.2pc, while the long haul load factor was the same as the previous May at 84.5pc.
Mainline traffic for the airline was up 3.5pc to 956,000. Short haul passenger numbers increased by 2.3pc to 813,000 from 795,000 in May of last year.
Transatlantic traffic continued to grow for the airline with passenger numbers up 10.9pc to 143,000.
