The US Justice Department is dropping its investigation into whether Paula Broadwell stalked her romantic rival online.
A letter from US Attorney Robert O'Neill says no federal charges will be brought in Florida related to "alleged acts of cyberstalking."
A retired Army general, Petraeus resigned as CIA director in November after acknowledging the extra-marital affair, which was exposed after Broadwell emailed Tampa socialite Jill Kelley, allegedly warning her to stay away from Petraeus and Gen. John Allen, the US commander in Afghanistan.
A Justice Department spokesman declined to comment.
