A British man has pleaded not guilty to having sexual encounters in the United States with a 13-year-old girl he reportedly met online.
Adam Robinson, 21, from Fleet, Hampshire, is accused of committing a "lewd act upon a child" six times from December 15 to December 23 - the day before the girl's 14th birthday, court documents in the US reveal.
A felony complaint filed in San Bernardino, California, states that his alleged crimes had the "intent of arousing, appealing to and gratifying the lust, passions, and sexual desires" of him and the girl.
Four of the alleged offences took place on December 15 and two further were said to have happened on December 23, the felony complaint says.
Robinson appeared at San Bernardino Superior Court to deny all six charges, a court clerk said.
She said that a defence lawyer was appointed to represent him and bail was set at more than one million dollars.
Robinson will appear at a further hearing at the same court on January 9, the clerk added.
According to reports in the United States, he was arrested by Redlands Police at a motel after striking up a relationship with the girl over the course of a year.
The teenager's parents reportedly raised the alarm with police but it is unclear how they learned about the pair's alleged relationship.
