Mafia man: Hoffa buried in Detroit

Tony Zerilli's book is called Hoffa Found (AP/WNBC)

A man convicted of crimes as a reputed Mafia captain who is promoting a forthcoming book claims missing Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa is buried outside Detroit, Michigan.

Tony Zerilli was in prison when Hoffa disappeared from a Detroit-area restaurant in 1975. But he tells a reporter from New York's WNBC that he was told about Hoffa's whereabouts after his release.

The ailing 85-year-old took a reporter to a field in Rochester, north of Detroit, but a specific location was not disclosed. The interview was also shown on Detroit station WDIV.

The FBI declined to comment about whether the claims were credible. No listed phone number could be found for Zerilli, whose book is called Hoffa Found.

Former Detroit FBI head Andrew Arena said Zerilli's remarks deserved consideration.
