Intelligence chief hurt in bombing

The head of Afghanistan's intelligence service has been wounded in an assassination attempt, a senior Afghan official said.

Asadullah Khalid suffered injuries on the lower part of his body when a bomb exploded, the official said.

The bombing occurred on Thursday afternoon in the intelligence chief's guest house in Kabul as he was receiving a visitor, added the official.

Mr Khalid has been rushed to a medical facility run by the intelligence service, the official said.
