Electric tin opener named worst gadget

The electric tin opener has been voted the worst household gadget ever invented in a poll carried out by company Comfy Quilts.

Its failure to always complete the task in hand was one reason given.

Also high breakdown rates helped the implement to top the poll.

Next on the list are the "messy" waffle iron and "irritating" novelty alarm clocks.

IMF calls for Plan B on economy

The IMF said that further easing of monetary policy, by printing money or even cutting the 0.5% base interest rate, was "required" now to inject some vigour into a flat economy. And it said the Government should consider an immediate increase in spending on infrastructure to boost growth and employment.
