Friday July 30 2010

A four-year-old boy shot dead his three-year-old friend in the US with a pistol left lying on a table.

Police in Indianapolis said that he picked up the loaded .45-calibre handgun in Fiona Lee's house and pointed it at her daughter's head before firing. The girl, Aunesti, died later in hospital.

The boy is the son of Lee's boyfriend.

Officers found cocaine and marijuana in Lee's home and arrested the 26-year-old on child neglect and drug charges.

Lee's two other children saw the shooting and are being cared for by a relative.
