Aid workers say scale of Asia's disasters is unprecedented

Sunday October 04 2009

International aid workers said today the scale and number of natural disasters to have hit south-east Asia is unprecedented.

Charities are launching an emergency appeal to help the victims of earthquakes and typhoons in Indonesia, Samoa, the Philippines and Vietnam.

This morning it has been reported that a 5.5 magnitude quake has hit near West Papua.

Gareth Owen from Save the Children said getting aid out is a massive logistical task.
