A man has been arrested after an armed attack on a security guard at the US Embassy in Tel Aviv.
Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the guard opened fire in the air during the attack.
He said the suspect, who was wielding a knife and an axe, was being held at the scene.
Tel Aviv police spokeswoman Orit Friedman said the attacker is an Israeli in his early 40s.
She said the motive for the attack was unknown it was not thought to be political.
She added that the embassy guard suffered a slight leg injury.
