"They tried for their life today and I couldn't fault their effort. It was a bit like the game the other night when we drew at Sunderland.
"I was pleased with the performance and there was only one team that was going to win."
Aston Villa counterpart
Paul Lambert was the more satisfied manager after today's match, having seen his side secure a point from a potentially difficult trip to west London.
"I think it was a really tough game for us because of obviously Harry coming in,"
Lambert said. "QPR, with where they are in the league, are fighting for every point and new manager syndrome normally kicks in.
"But I've got nothing but praise for the team, I thought they were excellent. They defended strongly when they had to and we were also a threat."
