Pompey to get administration go-ahead

Portsmouth

Portsmouth

Monday March 15 2010

Portsmouth will return to the high court on Tuesday where Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs will officially accept their move into administration.

The crisis club escaped being wound up last Thursday after HMRC abandoned their claim owner Balram Chainrai did not have the legal right to put the club into administration.

Administrator Andrew Andronikou revealed on Sunday he would look to set up a meeting with Premier League officials later this week, once the challenge to the validity of the move into administration had finally been cleared up. Pompey face a nine point deduction from the Premier League which would all but condemn them to relegation.

Andronikou announced 85 members of staff, including director Mark Jacob, were being made redundant on Wednesday.

They were followed out of the door by chief executive Peter Storrie, who announced he was stepping down on Friday evening following fierce criticism from supporters.

The south coast club became the first Premier League club to go into administration on February 26, but the move was challenged on March 1.
