Kerry avenged last September's dramatic All-Ireland final defeat with a 1-14 to 0-11 win over Dublin as the Spring Series burst into action in front of a crowd of 45,838.

The Kingdom shot a dozen wides in the first half but they came good after the break to comfortably see off a Dublin side which badly missed the attacking thrust of the Brogan brothers.

Kerry were also without key men such as Colm Cooper and Declan O'Sullivan, but they were able to compensate with the impressive finishing of Bryan Sheehan, who finished with 0-8, and goalscorer Darran O'Sullivan.

Three Tomas Quinn points and two from Kevin McManamon helped Dublin to a 0-7 to 0-5 interval lead over a wasteful Kerry side.

But Bryan Sheehan (0-8) steered over a succession of points and Darran O'Sullivan bagged a 55th minute goal.

A disappointing evening for the Dubs ended with midfielder Eamon Fennell receiving as straight red card just moments after coming on as a sub in the closing stages.

Also at Croke Park, Tyrone launched their NFL Division Two challenge with a comeback win over Kildare.

Three Mikey Conway points helped Kildare to a 0-6 to 0-3 interval lead, with Stephen O'Neill scoring twice for Tyrone.

Martin Penrose punched a 41st minute Tyrone goal, and Peter Harte added a second in the 56th minute.

Sean Cavanagh's earlier than expected return from injury capped an encouraging evening for the Red Hands.
