Gibson and Cole dismissals overturned

Darron Gibson's dismissal at West Ham has been overturned

Everton midfielder Darron Gibson and West Ham striker Carlton Cole have both seen their red cards during last Saturday's clash at Upton Park overturned following successful appeals.

Gibson was dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor for a high challenge on Mark Noble in the Toffees' 2-1 win, while Cole was ordered off for a tackle on Everton's England full-back Leighton Baines.

Both players will now see potential three-match suspensions written off.

A statement from the FA said: " The FA can confirm that red cards shown to both Carlton Cole and Darron Gibson have been rescinded.

"Both players were sent from the field of play in the Premier League fixture between West Ham United and Everton at Upton Park on Saturday 22 December.

"Their three-match suspensions have been withdrawn immediately and written reasons will be provided at a later date."
