Everton have confirmed they are in discussions with Fenerbahce regarding a transfer of Joseph Yobo to the Turkish club.
The 31-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan with the Super Lig side, helping them to the title in his first season.
Yobo made 42 appearances for Fenerbahce last season as they finished second in the table.
He became the first African player to captain the Toffees, when in 2007 he led the team out in their 2007 UEFA Cup Group A tie against Larissa at Goodison Park.
After an initial year at Fenerbahce, Yobo returned to Merseyside before going back to Turkey for a second season-long loan.
And with Yobo a regular at the Istanbul side and unlikely to break into the first team at Goodison Park any time soon, the Merseysiders have accepted an offer which will see him leave the club on a permanent basis.
