TUI meets to discuss response to pension levy
One of Ireland's main teaching unions is meeting today to discuss its response to the proposed cuts in public spending announced this week.
The Teachers Union of Ireland is refusing to rule out a campaign against the introduction of a pension levy for all public-sector workers.
It claims the Government is effectively scapegoating the public sector for the problems in the economy and failing to target the wealthier sections of society which have benefited most from the Celtic Tiger and are in a much better position to bear the brunt of the crisis.
