SIPTU says it is unhappy with the redundancy terms being offered to 370 workers who are set to lose their jobs at the Element Six facility in the Shannon Industrial Estate.

The union says workers at the plant are being offered just one week of pay per year of service on top of their statutory entitlement to two weeks' pay per year of service.

Local SIPTU representative Mary O'Donnell says this is "totally outrageous" and will not be accepted.

She says workers will be expecting a lot more money that was offered in previous redundancy packages because the company is closing its operating this time around.
