Sinn Fein president spells out his plans for 2008
Tuesday December 25 2007
The Sinn Fein president, Gerry Adams, says the devolution of policing and justice powers in 2008 will be his party's priority in the coming months.
But Unionists are resisting the move saying there's insufficient confidence in republicans.
They say not enough has been done to trust republicans on policing.
They are also awaiting a detailed police statement on who was behind the murder 2 months of Paul Quinn in Co Monaghan.
Mr. Adams said the North also faces huge challenges to provide its people with adequate housing, health and education and the power-sharing executive must tackle poverty and suicide.
