SF may seek to ban unionist symbols at Stormont

Sinn Fein has hinted that it may seek to ban unionist symbols from Stormont after a refusal to allow an event celebrating the life of IRA member Mairead Farrell.
Sinn Fein wanted to hold an International Women's Day event in the Long Gallery at Stormont commemorating Ms Farrell, who was shot dead by the British army in Gibraltar in 1988.
Unionists had vehemently opposed the move and the Assembly Commission that runs the Stormont estate has now ruled that it cannot go ahead.
Sinn Fein's Jennifer McCann says Stormont should either be a shared space or a neutral space and republicans will now be considering what action they can take in response to the commission's decision.
