Second referendum impossible-Sinn Fein
Sinn Féin has said the idea of a second referendum on the Lisbon Treaty is democratically and politically impossible.
It follows comments by European Affairs Minister Dick Roche that a re-run of the Treaty may be necessary.
Minister Roche said the move would put Ireland back at the heart of the European Union.
MEP Mary Lou McDonald has said if the Irish government secures a better deal for Ireland at European level, only then is there an argument for a new referendum.
'Those of us on the 'no' side want specific new additional points in the treaty and we want specific cast iron legal views on taxation,' she said.
