SDLP leader fuels speculation of Fianna Fáil merger

An SDLP working group looking at the future of the party has not ruled out a merger with Fianna F�il.

Addressing a party meeting in Belfast today, leader Mark Durkan has said the party is 'exploring all political options' as it considers political realignment on both sides of the border.

He added that they would be engaging not just with politicians in the Republic but also with unionists and others in the North.

There has been speculation that the SDLP could merge with Fianna Fáil ever since the Taoiseach said last year that his party was considering whether it should enter politics in the North.
