McGuinness says dissidents have little or no support
Monday June 30 2008
Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness has told a commemoration in Derry that dissident republicans have little or no support in the community.
The Deputy First Minister said such groups had come to a fork in the road and must pursue a peaceful future.
He also appealed to young republicans to get into politics rather than paramilitarism.
Mr McGuinness was speaking in the wake of the murder of 22-year-old Emmett Sheils in the Creggan area last week.
He was shot dead after apparently intervening in a planned attack by a group of masked gunmen.
