New US Ambassador to Ireland appointed
Friday July 03 2009
The new US Ambassador to Ireland says any deal on immigration reform in his country is likely to be an all encompassing one.
Dan Rooney officially took up his new role today after presenting his credentials to President McAleese at Aras an Uachtarain.
He owns the Pittsburgh Steelers Football team and has roots in Newry, Co. Down.
Close on 50,000 Irish people in the United States are undocumented.
Ambassador Rooney said any immigration deal will have to account for all other nationalities.
