A 35-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating dissident republican activities.

He was detained following a number of searches in the west Belfast area on Sunday.

Detectives from the PSNI's serious crime branch said they removed several items during the raids.

The arrested man was taken to the police's serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning.

Obama - more jobs needed for Europe

Obama told reporters at the end of the G8 meeting on Saturday, at Camp David in Maryland, that he and leaders of seven other major industrial nations agreed that "growth and jobs must be our top priority," and a stable, growing European economy was in everyone's best interest.
