INO to hold strike ballot if pay demands are rejected
Thursday May 08 2008
The Irish Nurses Organisation has voted in favour of holding a ballot for industrial action if its demands for a pay rise are not met.
Delegates attending the organisation's annual conference in Co Cavan today have rejected the benchmarking process as a way to determine public sector pay.
The INO, which represents 40,000 nurses, will go to the Labour Court later this month in a bid to secure a 10% pay rise.
The union has decided to hold a nationwide ballot for industrial action if the case is not successful.
