HSE decides to abandon controversial PPARS system

The Health Service Executive has reportedly decided to abandon any further roll-out of the controversial PPARS computer system.

The introduction of the computerised payroll system was suspended almost two years amid concerns about spiralling costs.

More than ?130m was spent on the system, compared to an original estimate of ?9m.

Reports this morning say the HSE has now decided to stop any further roll-out of PPARS and introduce a different computer system with a broader range of functions.
