PSNI officers are investigating after a motorist was shot at in the Pansy Street area of east Belfast

Saturday February 18 2012

Detectives are hunting an armed man who fired a shot at a motorist.

The victim got out of his car in the Pansy Street area of east Belfast at 1.20am on Saturday when he was approached by an armed male who fired one shot at him.

The shot missed and the suspect fled the scene. The PSNI have appealed for information.

Alliance East Belfast MP Naomi Long condemned the gun attack.

"The person behind this attempted shooting must be condemned," she said.

"There is absolutely no justification for bringing guns on to our streets.

"If anybody has any information about this attempted shooting then I would urge them to contact the police."
