€15m grant approved for former Dell workers
Saturday September 19 2009
Nearly €15m has been approved by the European Commission to help the 2,400 Dell workers who lost their jobs to find work.
President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso made the announcement while on a visit to Limerick earlier today.
The Irish government is to contribute another €8m to the fund.
Mr. Barroso was in Ireland to campaign for a Yes vote in the Lisbon Treaty Referendum.
He said the acceptance of the Treaty would help the EU become more effective on the world stage.
He said it would also create more confidence in Ireland.
