Xerox staff in Dublin warned to expect job losses
Tuesday July 31 2007
Workers at Xerox operations in Dublin have reportedly been warned to expect job losses as part of an outsourcing deal coming into affect at the beginning of September.
The work of around 900 Dublin call-centre staff is due to be outsourced to IBM Global Services over the coming 18 months.
Reports this morning say Xerox warned the workers yesterday to expect job cuts as part of the move, but it is unclear how many employees may be affected.
However, IBM is planning to carry out the call-centre workers from several locations worldwide and a large number of Xerox staff reportedly face being redeployed overseas or made redundant.
This flies in the face of the company's insistence earlier this year that nobody would lose their jobs as part of the outsourcing deal.
