Manufacturing production up 4.3% in June

Manufacturing production in Ireland was 4.3% higher in June compared to the same month last year, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

However, the figure masks significant various in different sectors.

The CSO says production of basic pharmaceutical products was up more than 35%, while production of computer, electronic and optical goods was down almost 18%.

The statistics agency also says the seasonally adjusted volume of manufacturing production in the second quarter of the year was down 2% compared to the first quarter.
