Irish economy ranked as third most free in world
A survey by a leading conservative think tank in the US has reportedly ranked Ireland as the third most free economy in the world.
Reports this morning say the US Heritage Foundation, which promotes free trade, gave Ireland a high score due to its low taxes and small share of government spending as a percentage of output.
The group's rankings are based on the level of government interference in the economy, freedom from corruption and the free movement of labour.
Japan tops the latest league table, while China and India are ranked as the least free economies in the world.
