Hotels facing worst industry crisis in decades

Wednesday August 12 2009

Irish hoteliers say their industry is facing its worst crisis in more than 30 years.

The Irish Hotels Federation is holding a meeting in Dublin today to discuss the challenges faced by its members.

It says the sector has been devastated by falling tourism numbers and an over-capacity of hotel rooms, particularly in Dublin.

The federation's members are calling on the Government to help some hoteliers exit the industry.
