Garda detectives are to prepare a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions over the death of a 12-year-old boy in a suspected arson attack more than 10 years ago.

A man arrested on Monday over the killing of Stephen Hughes Connors as he camped out in a makeshift hut with a 14-year-old friend in Tallaght, Co Dublin, on September 1 2001 has been released without charge.

The file for the DPP follows fresh evidence being discovered in the case.

The 52-year-old suspect was an inmate in Mountjoy Prison.
