Aer Lingus has announced its intention to resume flights between Shannon and Heathrow Airport near London from March of next year.

The airline attracted much criticism when it scrapped the flights earlier this year in favour of services between Belfast and Heathrow.

However, it now says it will resume twice-daily flights to and from Shannon in March 2009.

The decision follows the recent agreement by staff to accept work practice changes at Cork, Dublin and Shannon airports.
