Aer Lingus pilots call off planned two-day strike
Aer Lingus pilots have called off their plans to go on strike for two days from midnight tonight.
The Irish Airline Pilots Association was planning to mount the strike in protest at the airline's decision to hire new pilots in Belfast on lesser terms and conditions than those enjoyed in the Republic.
However, the union decided to abandon the action this morning after receiving a fresh offer of talks from Aer Lingus chief executive Dermot Mannion.
It remains unclear if the airline will be able to operate a normal scheduled over the next two days as it had already made contingency arrangements in the event of the strike going ahead.
